Jade, Andy and Trevor were taken by surprise by Chen and Jean’s arrival at the restaurant.
When Chen learns that Andy has hired Jade as a cashier, he says his daughter should be working at the head branch as Andy’s assistant. Jade was shocked and tries to back out but Andy says they won’t be able to do anything about it and she can try out the position first as Chen Jean will be opening their 10th branch in a few days. Jean tries to sabotage Jade by meddling with the lauriat ingredients but Andy saves the day by bringing out Zeny’s siomai. Jade is puzzled but later Andy explains that he’s been trying to help out her mother by sending a fake buyer to order from her. Chen is happy with the siomai’s taste and asks Andy to draw a contract with the supplier for five years. Jean is mad though for as soon as she tasted the siomai, she knew it was Zeny’s recipe. She orders Andy to have their chef’s come up with a new recipe. Zeny on the other hand refuses to sign with Chen’s company until she receives a threat from Jean. This prompts Zeny to go head-to-head with Jean and go ahead with the contract.

Jade lives a double life at the university.
She ‘meets’ Trevor, and because of his crush on her, he convinces Andy to give Jade a job at one of the Chenjen restaurants. Jade also discovers that her classmate Althea has a crush on Yuan and she doesn’t want to encourage this any further. But Althea and Yuan keep bumping into each other. What is she supposed to do? Meanwhile Trevor is smitten with Jade and his mom notices how he’s looking happier. Onyx though is frustrated on getting Jade’s attention as her time is preoccupied with school and her job. Chen returns to Manila and mentions to his wife that he’s having chest pains lately. Jean insists he see the doctor but Chen says its just stress.

Andy chances upon Aling Amor nursing her wounds outside their apartment while looking for Yuan.
Onyx pays some of Aling Amor’s debts with his meager savings, much to the disappointment of his parents. Amor, Zeny and Jade were most surprised to find out at the police station that everything was settled already by Andy. Aling Amor asks neighbot Akong to give her a part-time job at his bakery since her license is suspended. Stephen, Akong’s son teaches her how to bake bread. Jade returns Onyx’s money so he can enroll in school but Onyx is a bit offended for he accepted Andy’s help. She mentions that it is not without consequences as she has to also go to school as Yuan. Onyx hopes that she doesn’t become too indebted to Andy.

Chen gets distracted when Onyx answers his call and he forgets about the other cell phone.
Onyx informs Jade later that her father wants to talk to Yuan that evening. Zeny has accepted a bulk order of her siomai on a trial basis and hopefully this will start a good business opportunity for their family. Jade receives the call from Chen but Zeny snatches the phone from her daughter and tells her ex-husband to leave her children alone. Chen calls Andy again and the young man lies about Yuan agreeing to enroll in graduate school. Amor has been having trouble with her jeepney’s breaks and gets into an accident. The passengers are planning to sue her for the injuries they sustained. Where will Jade’s family get the money?

Jade finally starts with her MA class but soon she discovers that Zeny is making ends meet by selling siomai around the neighborhood.
She wanted to drop out but her mother insisted that she is a worthy investment. Andy continues to spy on Jade's family and he's curious as to why he hasnt seen Yuan for a while. However, Chen is getting impatient and tries to call Yuan himself. He later finds the cellphone he gave his son in the guestroom, where Jade left it.

Andy tells Yuan that Chen is firing him if Yuan does not enroll in graduate school, putting more pressure on Jade.
Zeny hears of her dilemma and she invests her retirement money in her daughter. However, Jade is not able to enroll even if her mother is able to pay the fee, for a requirement in school is work experience which she doesn’t have yet. The dean though gives her a chance and says she must pass an important exam to be considered good enough for the school. She passes with flying colors and shares the news to her best friend. Onyx gives Jade good news too for he is back in college to finish his degree. He admits he’s doing this to make Jade proud and meet the standards she is looking for in a future boyfriend.

Chen threatens to fire Andy if he doesn’t persuade Yuan in enrolling in graduate school.
Andy appears at Jade’s building and she is shaken upon seeing him there. She pretends to relay the message to her brother but she is hesitant to study because it would mean falsifying documents. However, Onyx gives her a bright idea and she tells Andy that Jade also has to go to graduate school. Chen does not agree though and also rejects his other daughter, Amethyst’s request to enroll in a fashion school in Paris as he believes daughters will only marry and will not be interested in his business. Zeny learns that she and some teachers are laid off from the school she’s employed in and will soon receive compensation for their years served.

Everything was just a dream and Jade decides to just record a message in her cell phone for her father.
She soon arrives in Manila and her mother and lola almost hits her with a broom thinking she was a burglar breaking in. Chen tasks Andy to look into Yuan’s life in Manila and encourage him to attend graduate school. Jade talks to Zeny about her time in Hong Kong with her father and she realizes her mom and lola’s love are more important to her than anything in the world.

Zeny prepares for Jade’s homecoming but she gets angry when she doesn’t arrive.
Onyx was forced to reveal that Jade was crying when she called him, prompting Zeny to call Chen’s home in China. Jade tells her that she’s just fixing things and will soon come home. Chen meets with his investors and realizes that Yuan needs more training and decides to enroll him in a school to get his masters degree. Jade realizes she must return home but she has to confess to her father the truth. Chen disowns Jade as soon as she tells him that she pretended to be her brother.

Jade walks out of the sauna but Trevor and Andy think Yuan might be gay.
She proves to them Yuan is not by riding a bike and doing stunts. Jade asks Andy to hear her proposal before she presents it to their client and he is impressed. But Edison tells Andy to sabotage Yuan’s presentation and Jade gets embarrassed in front of the board after some technical difficulties. Chen though gives her another chance and the clients approve of their deal with ChenJean. Chen presents her to the whole company as the heir of their business but it seems like they lost the trust of the stockholders and even the clients pull out their investments. Jade feels guilty for causing all this trouble and tells her father she will be going back to Manila. Chen refuses to let her leave and Jade has to deal with being called a jinx.

Jade manages to intercept the call and she promises her mother she will tell the truth to her father after a week.
Jade is then immediately thrust into Chen’s world of business, with Trevor and Andy as her guides. She learns how Chen II died in a car accident and she gets sad not knowing her brother. Jean apparently aims to discourage Yuan from pursuing the business and assigns Yuan into doing the proposal for their new project. Chen is confident Yuan can do it but Jade is fearful as she has absolutely no experience. Trevor and Andy tell Jade to relax and take her to a sauna. What will Jade do now?

After hearing Jade’s story, Zeny tells her daughter not to come back home if she continues with her plans to go to China.
Jean tries to come to terms in accepting Yuan into their family and tries to be happy when Chen tells her that Yuan will be visiting them. Edison’s sons, Andy and Trevor anticipate Yuan’s arrival at the China office, for Chen has announced that Yuan will be joining them. Jade persists with her plans and moves out of their house. She leaves a letter to her mom but Zeny calls Chen regarding their daughter, making Jade panic once again.

Jade is worried about the testing because Chen might find out about her lies.
However, the test does not reveal she is female and Chen announces him as his son. Onyx tells Jade it is enough that her mother and lola are out of jail, so she doesn’t have to worry so much. Chen is however persistent that Yuan learn the ropes of his business and wants him to come to China. Jade manages to hurdle another problem again regarding her visa and she wants Onyx to cover for her while she is in China. Her friend though refuses to be her accomplice for he thinks Jade is crazy for still wanting her father’s approval. Jade tries to stop him from telling Zeny but her mother discovers the bit of hair she kept when she cut it short. Zeny soon learns Jade’s secret.

Chen agrees to have her mother and lola freed from prison.
Jade shares her secret with Onyx and he had no other choice but to aid her with her charade. Chen continues to ignore his wife Jean and daughter Amethyst. Jean shares this problem to her friend Ningning, who is also the wife of Chen’s business partner Edison. After hearing of Chen’s plan to put Yuan in the company, Edison says his son’s are the ones who deserve to take over the business. Meanwhile, Jade tells Zeny her father just agreed to set them free without any conditions. However, Jade was again forced to pretend to be Yuan when Chen asks him to go to his office. She later finds out her father wants to make sure he is his son and he will undergo DNA testing.

Onyx tries to cheer Jade up after the incident.
He takes her out on a ‘date’ but it was actually a distraction for her family and neighbors to prepare a surprise birthday celebration for her. Tragedy strikes however when their apartment bursts into flames. Jade goes in to save her memory box despite the impending danger. When Zeny discovers what she did, she becomes angry for Jade should have let Chen’s memories burn. Meanwhile Chen loses his son to Jean on the same night in a car accident. He becomes cold to Jean and their daughter Amethyst as if his son is the only thing that matters to him. Because of their financial difficulties, Jade attempts to get a job at her father’s company. Jean, who interviews her, rejects her and has her forcefully removed from the building. Zeny tries to defend her daughter but is instead accused of stealing at the office. Jade tries to ask her father for help but he coldly tells her to present her brother Yuan for him to help her family. Later that evening Jade decides to transform herself into her brother so as to have her mother freed from jail.

Onyx brings home balloons and food from the prom thinking Jade can somehow experience the event through those things.
When he manages to force Jade into dancing with him, he kisses her on the hand which makes her mad. The next day, Jade receives news about her college scholarship and she excitedly goes to her friend to tell him about it. When she finds him hanging out with Marissa, Jade tries to pull off a crazy bike stunt to impress him. However, she and Onyx end up injured, as the latter saves her from a major accident. Onyx tells her she has to give up her toughie act as a façade for her hang up over her relationship with her father. Zeny talks to Jade about this and makes her realize she doesn’t need to be a ‘boy’, she only needs to be herself to be loved by other people. Jade and Onyx soon make up and got through college together. One day though, while talking on the side walk, a SUV almost hits them and Jade is dumbfounded to see her father alight the vehicle.

When Jade learns that her friend Onyx’s father, Arturo, is leaving for China, she squeezes herself in his luggage so she can go and talk to her father.
When Zeny learns of this she panics and eventually retrieves Jade before the ship left the pier. She tells Jade never to think less of her self just because they were left by her father. Onyx and Jade grow up to be the best of friends. Jade becomes more of a tomboy, even learning bike stunts like Onyx. When a classmate, Marissa, takes notice of Onyx, Jade becomes more conscious of her looks. She starts thinking why Onyx could be interested to take Marissa as his date to their prom.

Jade goes to the bakery next door and asks the Chinese owner Akong about the significance of male children in the Chinese culture.
After his explanation, Jade goes home and dresses up like a boy, surprising both Zeny and Amor. Zeny tells Jade there is nothing they can do to change who she is for her father to accept her. Chen on the other hand, keeps on longing for Yuan, and this irritates his new wife Jean to no end. Jean goes to Zeny’s neighborhood and mistakes Jade for Yuan as she is wearing boy’s clothes. Jean tries to kidnap Jade but Zeny’s neighbors catches her and reports her to the police. Chen later bails out his wife and Zeny warns them to stay away. Zeny makes up to Jade by attending her school sportfest for fathers. She wins a special trophy for their team as she takes on the role of both father and mother to Jade.

During her 5th birthday, Jade Dimaguiba discovers from her mother Zeny that her father passed away when she was young.
Zeny fabricated a story about meeting her father in China where she was an English teacher and how he got killed in a freak accident and how she lost her brother Yuan in a miscarriage. Amor, Zeny’s mother, says she should stop telling Jade lies and admit that they were abandoned by Chen Sy, her ex-husband, when she chose to return to Manila after his family almost gave Jade up for adoption. Zeny hides the truth knowing it would hurt Jade. One day though, a man arrives at their door and reveals he is Chen, her father. Zeny thought he was going to take away Jade but he was looking for his son Yuan. Zeny was angry and drove Chen away, not even telling him the truth. Jade was devastated for her father didn’t want her and wishes Yuan was the one who lived instead.
